Grand Marshal for the Parade will be Charlie Brown, Director of Community Relations and member of the Viejas Band of Kumeyaay Indians ~ Schedule of Events ~

* Opening Ceremony: 10am in the Albertsons lot at the Big Yellow Truck, where there will also be entertainment .

* The Alpine Craft and Vendor Fair: 10am – 2pm in the Albertsons parking lot

* Health Fair: 10am – 2pm in the Ranch Farmers Market parking lot (behind Fred’s Burgers)

* Parade Start: 2:00 pm on Alpine Boulevard across from Albertson’s and head west down Alpine Boulevard.

Annual Event to Benefit East County Youth

YOU are invited! Stoney’s Kids is putting another candle on their birthday cake to celebrate their efforts in supporting East County youth on Thursday, August 26, 5:30 PM at Sycuan Resort, formerly, Singing Hills Golf Course, on the lawn.    This all-volunteer, non-profit organization has raised over $650,000 since 1991 to fund projects that support our youth right here in East County.

Stoney’s Kids has supported everything from structured youth sports and after school programs to scholarships for 6^th grade camp and recreation programs, juvenile diversion programs, a READ intervention program, toy drives, and youth health and wellness programs.

The community is invited to partner with Stoney’s Kids in this fund raising effort by attending this annual BIRTHDAY PARTY event.  This lovely event is free – no gifts or entry fee are required, just good old cash, checks or credit cards for the fantastic raffle prizes!

Over 98% of donated funds go directly to East County kid’s programs.  Your support makes a difference, so please find a way to participate.  As founder, Stoney Stone says…. “It’s all about the kids!”

Holy Trinity

In 1948 there was a grand festival in El Cajon, in mid October, called “All Western Days”. There were lots of crafts, food, fun, entertainment and dancing for all. Over $20,000 was raised for the purchase of the property on Ballard Street and the building of Holy Trinity School.

In 1949, with the presence of stars like Bing Crosby, Bob Hope, Gabby Hayes, and Jimmy Durante, “All Western Days” raised over $90,000 for Holy Trinity School and over $10,000 for the El Cajon City Council youth outreach. Over 100,000 people were estimated to have descended on El Cajon that weekend.

This years theme, “Remember When”, is rallying the community together for plenty of fun right here in the heart of El Cajon. The Cajon Valley Jamboree is just as committed now as it was in 1948 in bringing the City of El Cajon and fostering communities spirit.

It takes many committed people and lots of dedicated hours to put together a community event of this magnitude. The planning and preparation have been underway since August. We are truly grateful for everyone who has been involved in preparing and planning this years festival. We would also like to thank the many businesses for their support.
